Each year, the summit features keynote speakers who discuss educational choice and the successes of the community providing educational options to children across the country.
Last year, former Clinton White House Press Secretary Mike
McCurry gave a keynote address and offered his suggestions on how to
effectively advocate for school choice.
As a student in California during the desegregation of
schools in the 1970s, McCurry elected to attend what once was an all-black high
school. During his first day at his new school, he saw firsthand how a school a
few streets over could be so dilapidated and ill equipped in preparing their
students for the challenges they are bound to face in their lives. After this
revelation, he understood how important educational options are for families
across the country and how choice brings about success for children.
