Join the National School Choice Week Celebration

By Kevin P. Chavous

Next week, thousands of educational choice supporters will come together to celebrate National School Choice Week. The week-long celebration will feature over 5,500 unique events across the country to celebrate the power of parental choice and the successes of school choice programs nationally.

In my travels, I have seen how educational options have empowered parents and given them the ability to ensure their children receive a quality education. It is exciting to have the chance to join the educational choice community as it comes together to celebrate all types of choice. Whether it is private, charter, home or virtual education, all have such a transformative impact on families.

National School Choice Week is heading out the road and making stops across the United States to celebrate the opportunities the community has successfully given to thousands of children. Countless receptions, rallies and events are being held with school choice students and their families participating.

As a former D.C. City Councilman, I am excited to participate in the celebration by leading the “Put Kids First” rally in Washington D.C. on Jan. 29 at Upper Senate Park. The rally will feature student performances and guest speakers all to support the D.C. Opportunity Scholarship program and successful choice programs across the country.
