On Senate Bill 1, Budgets, and Saving Pennsylvania's Schoolchildren

In conjunction with NBC's ongoing Education Nation initiative, our friend and Pennsylvania State Sen. Anthony Williams (D-Philadelphia) recently sat down with the city's local NBC affiliate to talk about a myriad of education issues—funding, early childhood education, and, of course, Senate Bill 1. Currently making its way through the state legislature, the bill would grant vouchers to low-income students to attend schools of their parents' choosing. You've got to admire a guy like Williams. He means it when he says he's for all options, from quality public schools to private schools to public charter schools. His record shows it; and while he sometimes has disagreements with those across the aisle and within his own party, he's always willing to work to do what's best for kids.
